Web Subscriptions are On/Off

The On and Off options enable and disable the Web Subscriptions feature on the Office-extended server. If you select Off, users will not be able to subscribe to update email with their Office 2000 application or web browser. Subscriptions that were made prior to disabling subscriptions will be maintained and will produce update email when the Web Subscriptions feature is enabled again.

Important If you turn off Web Subscriptions, any changes you make to other Web Subscriptions settings will not be saved when you click Submit.

You should consider disabling Web Subscriptions if:

• You don’t have an SMTP mail server from where update email can be originated.
• You don’t want to load your mail server with the burden of originating update email.
• You don’t want to load your Office-extended server with the burden of maintaining subscriptions and preparing update email.
• You don’t want to offer the Web Subscriptions feature to your users for policy reasons.
