Enable automatic deletion of Discussion items

You can enable automatic deletion of discussion items and set an expiration time for the deletion. Using this option, you can specify a maximum age for discussion items. When any item surpasses this age, it is automatically deleted from the OSE database. To enable automatic discussion item deletion, select Enable automatic deletion of discussion items. Then type a value in the Delete Discussion items after field and select day(s), week(s), months(s), or year(s) for the time unit.

If you disable Web Discussions on the Office-extended server, automatic deletion will not be performed on existing discussion items in the database.

Note When items are automatically deleted, each item in a thread is deleted individually. This means that the item that begins a thread will be deleted first. Therefore, threads may lose their discussion context because users won’t be able to see what the original item was and what earlier replies stated. You should consider this when setting the automatic deletion option.
