Database Settings
On this page you can verify the integrity of your database or select a database for the Office-extended server to which your browser is connected to use for Web Discussions and Web Subscriptions data.Click the Home button at the top right corner of this page to return to the OSE Administration Home Page.
Verify Database Integrity
You can verify the current databases integrity. This verification checks to see that the tables needed by OSE exist in the database. Click Verify Database Integrity and click Submit to verify the database.
Change Office Database
OSE can use the MSDE database included with OSE or a local or remote Microsoft SQL server to store Web Discussions or Web Subscriptions data. Each virtual server on your Office-extended server can use a different database. Initially, you configure which database to use when running the OSE Configuration Wizard.
To change the database, specify a Data Source Name, User Id, and Password, then click Submit.
Data Source Name
The data source name is the name of a System DSN entry that you create using the ODBC Data Sources Control Panel applet. A System DSN entry defines the location and other settings related to your database. OSE uses the information in the System DSN to connect to the database. When you use the OSE Configuration Wizard, a System DSN is created automatically, but if you want to change the database used by OSE, you need to use the ODBC Data Sources Control Panel applet to create a new System DSN. Specify the name of the System DSN you create in the Data Source Name field.
User Id, Password
OSE needs a user ID and password to connect to the database. You must configure the database to give access to the user ID and password you specify in these fields. Configure the database using the SQL Server Administration program.
